The Big 'D' . Genesis 3:1-6 Hebrews 3:12 warns, Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God. Another word for unbelief is doubt. Satan has been working at creating doubt in the hearts of men ever since the Garden of Eden. There are four things that Satan wanted Eve to doubt. 1. HE WANTED HER TO DOUBT THE WORD OF GOD - Vs. 1 Satan asked "Hath God said?" He was wanting Eve to doubt the very words spoken of God. 2. HE WANTED HER TO DOUBT THE HONESTY OF GOD - Vs. 4 God said man would die if he ate of the fruit. Genesis 2:17 Satan claimed differently. 3. HE WANTED HER TO DOUBT THE GOODNESS OF GOD - Vs. 5 Satan tried to make Eve think that God was withholding something good from her. In reality, God was protecting Eve. 4. HE WANTED HER TO DOUBT THE WISDOM OF GOD The whole passage implies to us that Satan was challenging how wise God really is. Satan still tries to get us to doubt today. He wants us to doubt what the Bible tells us to be true. He wants us to doubt the Word of God - 2 Timothy 3:16, Hebrews 4:12, Romans 15:4 He wants us to doubt the honesty of God - Psalm 145:17, Psalm 119:137, 1 Peter 1:15-16 He wants us to doubt the goodness of God - Psalm 145:8-9, John 3:16, 1 John 4:10 He wants us to doubt the wisdom of God - Romans 11:33, James 3:17
